Architects

Architects need to be provided with appropriated tools to consider energy storage systems and smart energy management systems for new and retrofited buildings, an important option for energy efficiency, reduction of energy consumption and utilization of RES. A design Guide will be (at the end of the project in 2012) widely spread among ACE and other national and international architects associations.

Sustainable by Design declaration

The International Union of Architects was among the NGOs that contributed to COP15 (United Nations Climate Change Conference, Copenhagen, 2009-12-7th to 18th).
Through the voice of UIA President Louise Cox during an interview on Climate Change TV, the world's architects assured the delegates of their determination and their specific professional capacity to contribute to the struggle against climate change. The Sustainable by Design declaration published at COP15 lists 5 goals and 9 strategies that demonstrate how responsible architecture can lead to a significant reduction in the
emission of greenhouse gases.
